Re: made it through day 3
Ok, so tomorrow I am starting a 4 day fast, to end Monday morning (unless it goes fantabulous, then who knows!) I have been reading these posts on and off all day and I am very excited. I completely agree that fasting should be a personal journey, but between other fasters, the motivation and tips are SO positive! I applaud everyone who has either reached their fasting goals and/or motivated others with supportive posts. I have a few questions if anyone has time and I look forward to joining the family. But I digress. Here I go with a complete picture of me:
Short Bio:
I never had a problem with weight before, mostly because I was dirt poor and never ate for fun. I joined the Navy when I was 21 at 5’4” and 120lbs. I was a nice size then *sigh*. I spent 2 years partying and drinking and eating out. Well, I guess you prolly know the rest. In Jan, I topped out at 190lbs. and I will be 25 in Feb. Weight Watchers and exercise got me to 170lbs.
Sob Story: *everyone has one, lol*
A year ago, I got picked up for an officer commissioning program (stellar opportunity) and I am now in college (Go Penn State!) for the Navy and am getting my degree. Only problem is, I failed my last 2 PRT’s (physical readiness test) in Height/Weight and BF. Max weight is 156lbs so about 10 left to go. One more failure and I am out of the program. Well, I have been doing some drastic calorie restriction and exercise for awhile now, but now I have less than 2 weeks and I CAN”T LOSE WEIGHT! Today I did a saran wrap body wrap for one hour because I can pass if I take off like 2
inches from my waist or thighs/butt. Someone recommended it to me. It made me very sick to my stomach and no drop in
inches :(. It was my last resort too. Now I am here.
The Master Plan:
I want to try to drop the last 10 lbs or so, go back to healthy eating to do the 1.5 mile timed run, and then go back to fasting to drop another 20lbs or so. I have tried to fast before, and did max 2 days but always caved in. I knew no one who had fasted before, and I didn’t know about the 3rd day end of hunger. I really want to see it for myself on Monday. Tonight I am doing LOTS of reading and thinking. Tomorrow I do not have to work out and Friday is a study day at school, so I can have 4 precious days to myself.
So if anyone has time, I wanted to ask a few questions that have prolly already been answered :). Here goes:
Questions:
1. What are my chances of losing 10lbs in, say 2 4-day fasts? *all forms of honesty will be appreciated*
2. Is there anything wrong with me just staying in bed from Thursday afternoon until Monday morning and studying?
3. How much water, minimum, should I be sure to get, daily, and can I take vitamins?
4. Should I drink the saltwater cocktail to expedite BM?
5. Any special tips from the pros? :)
Thanks in advance for any pointers and I look forward to future successes for all of us! Sorry about the long post, :) but everything is out now and I feel better. Good Luck to all!
