Re: Does your body begin to store fat due to starvation?

Zoe ~

I myself have never bought into that "starvation mode" theory. If you think about it, it doesnt make much sense.

Why do people who have gastric bypass lose so fast for so long?

Why do people who are forced into starvation (in concetration camps etc) keep losing and losing? If starvation mode had any validity it would be a life saver for someone in that position as they would just stay normal weight or overweight.

What about the very people on this board? Many have lost ALOT of weight fast and the body didnt shut down. I myself have fasted and lost alot of weight and kept it off.

It really doesnt how you lose the weight....fasting...low calorie....atkins etc. on and on...if you go back right away to your overeating and bad eating habits they weight will come back on rapidly. Eating any amount of calories under your BMR will supress your metabolism...but not as much as people think....and the body just needs time to bounce back and get it back up to normal. That's why it is so important to eat good after any "diet, fasting or whatever you do to lose weight.

Thats just my opinion that I have from my obsrvations.....hope it helped!
