Cliff Beckwith has lots of experience with flax oil and big "C", but one should not rely solely on his testimonials. Barleans is the only brand of flax oil that Dr. Johanna Budwig recommends, and Flax oil goes rancid very quickly. The oil must be processed in darkness, without oxygen or heat, and kept refrigerated if it's to be viable and effective. Barlean does just that, and in addition, they stamp the pressing date right on the bottle, and ship it Air Express to be sure the oil will be viable for those whose lives may depend on it.

I've sold Barlean's flax oil for years, and order it drop-shipped directly to my customers. They are usually very open to giving recommendations that are approved by Dr. Budwig. If flax oil is purchased from indirect sources, such as health food stores, one may never know what has happened to that oil since leaving the plant. For example, was it left in a hot truck or warehouse for days, or left on a pallet because no one was available to check it in? Was it kept unrefrigerated in the store because of lack of room? And how long has it been in the store since being pressed?

As for gel-caps, throw them away! Were talking serious business here, and no seriously ill patient should be taking anything but the best available to fight such illnesses. Those caps most likely have gone through all the wrong steps in processing, and to use them would be foolish.

As I recall, the mix of Flax oil and cottage cheese recommended by Dr. Budwig is 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 2 TBS flax oil, twice a day, but I was told that low fat, or fat-free, plain yogurt works just as well.
