Re: 7 Day Fasting Questions
SO far reading the postings I'm a bit shocked at everyone here who seemingly are throwing themselves headfirst into doing something like this without knowing the effects to the body.
NOTE:- I may update or modify the list from time to time.
Information from:
Fasting and Eating for Health : A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease by Joel Fuhrman
1. First 54/72hrs woman/man your body will burn MOSTLY muscle.
It does this because it's easy to burn and it's expecting more food shortly.
Brain keeps working on glucose as primary source of energy.
2. After that time, brain switches to ketones stored in fat. Muscle rate burning slows down CONSIDERABLY and fat is burning as the body prepares for time without food.
3. Muscle is still being burned as a source of vitamins, only fat now as energy. Fat is not capable of storing vitamins. But... we still do need those vitamins.
4. Food takes a LOT of energy to convert to nutrition, energy not spent on conversion will be spent on repairing body.
5. Body will burn ALL non-essential tissue.
6. You won't feel hunger after the hours, just an empty stomach (which is unsettling in itself if you're not used to it).
7. When you feel hungry again, START TO EAT. That's your body telling you it has no more non-essential tissue, and you will start to STARVE. It'll start taking from your essential tissue such as organs.
8. Starving can start to occur around after some 30 days in a healthy person with 10% body-fat.
9. Non-essential tissue includes thing such as tumors! (brain turmos excluded, breast turmos included) and your body will happily burn it.
10. your arteries will unclog.
11. Atkins diet accomplishes much the same - the lack of carbs fools your body thinking it's not getting food. However, you loose the imporant healing bonus of doing water only, not to mention you may continue feed your body very unhealthy foods.
12. Getting headaches the first few days is a natural sign of your body detoxifying. Remember, all drugs are toxins! Even tylenol.
13. Unsupervised fasts longer than 10 days are not recommed as possible dangers conditions tend to arise after the 10 days, but are seldome dangerous before.
That's all for now. enjoy.
