Re: Where do I get my important
Actually, any claim that the meat industry is worried about soy is simply wrong. They aren't, not in the least. Soy is nasty crap, by any measure. It tastes bad, has many side effects many negative that can take litterally decades to manifest.
Now if you want to talk stooges, lok to big soy. THese people make other lobby groups and political action groups and such look like a group of Mother Theresa clones as a group of Girl Scouts.
Most university researchers simply refuse to even do any research on Soy if they anticipate a result contra to soy interests, because "Big Soy" plays hardball, overwhelming such people with attacks from many fronts. They make court challenges, Have their scientists rip sound research to shreds, and because big Soy has much political clout with food companies and politicians in soy-producing states, they even can make good threats to cut funding to Institutions that they feel aren't friendly to the soy cause.
As for knowing thousands of vegetarians without thyroid problems, I find that a bit difficult to buy into. How do you know? Have these problems manifested themselves in a way these thousands you know would even bother to mention to you? Has the damage done even become apparent as of yet? Just because someone doesn't keel over dead in a week after ingesting something does not impute safety to it. Some poor eating practices can take decades to manifest themselves tangibly, and that doesn't even take into account damage that might not manifest itself until the second or third generation of a vegetarian group of people.
Soy is crap. It is easy to grow, it transports easily, and is cheap as dirt. And anyone who thinks soy business interests is good and the meat industry is evil is simply naive and easily duped. There is slime on both sides of the issue, but "Big Soy" is most certainly the most underhanded in how they choose to cover up the negatives of their 'soy bread and butter'.
