Re: eczema at the aga of 2 and then reoccurence after 11 years
Hello,
Once you restore balance to your immune system and rid your environment of those things which cause you irritation, then you will be healed of the eczema. The eczema symptom is your body's way of messaging to you the need to address your immune health and to alert you to the fact that a toxic agent (allergen/irritant) is affecting your system.
In order to help make sure that your homeopathic physician is addressing all the right issues to ensure complete success, you need to know what questions he or she should be asking you. These are the following items that should be discussed:
* Internal (immune health) - address deficiencies with good nutrition. Common deficiencies with eczema sufferers are beta carotene, zinc, quercetin, essential fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6, & GLA), magnesium, and vitamins C & E. The best way to get these nutrients into the body is through what you eat or drink. Your homeopathic physician should be addressing those deficiencies when treating you. Make sure that you (and your parents) question the physician regarding those areas; especially if those areas aren't addressed by your physician. An informed patient keeps the doctors on their toes.
* External (skin care) - You want to use products that contain natural vitamins, minerals, and herbs for healing. Try to stay away from synthetic medications containing toxic product ingredients which promote harmful side effects. Synthetic medications suppress or coverup the symptoms. By suppressing the symptoms, they don't address the reason the symptom is manifesting in the first place. This is dangerous because it is covering up your body's alert system; which warns you when something is wrong. You don't want to cover up the problem; you want to address the problem. When I speak of addressing the problem, what I am referring to is confronting the problem, not hiding from the problem by covering it up. You want to use natural products (that work with the natural chemistry of the skin) to promote healing; due to the fact that they address the deficiencies by replenishing the skin cells with the vitamins and minerals needed to promote healing.
* Foreign (identifying and ridding the body of allergen/irritants) - You need to identify those things in your environment that cause your skin irritation. This could be certain food, dust mites, pet dander, harsh fabrics (like wool or polyester), harsh chemicals in certain soaps/detergents, harsh chemicals found in treated water (like fluoride or chlorine), metals, paints and other toxic chemicals.... It is important that you rid your environment of the thing or things that's causing your irritation; so that the good work that you do to heal your body isn't compromised. Your physician should spend some time questioning you regarding allergen/irritants in effort to discover what is instigating your breakouts. One of the best means of doing this is through discussion with you regarding your daily routine and what has changed in your environment recently to bring about your reactions.
All three of these areas should be sufficiently addressed by your homeopathic physician in order for you to enjoy a life of true eczema freedom. This is my effort to give you the tools (knowledge) needed to test that your physician is actually giving you the best possible care. When all three of these issues are addressed simultaneously, the process for healing the body of eczema is speedy and endures for the longterm. Eczema does not have to be scary; it is simply the body's way of messaging to you the need to restore balance to your immune system (good nutrition), along with the need to identify the allergen culprit so that you can rid it from your environment.
Whether you are using conventional medicine or homeopathic, you physician should not be quick to medicate until all of those questions are sufficiently satisfied.
