Our local newspaper ran an article on how the cities regularily sell treated sewage to the local farms to use on their fields as economic fertilizer. Our county was the biggest user of this practice in the state, although every farming county does this. I couldn't believe it, that smell when they're plowing the fields isn't just manure, it's human manure! How can that possibly make sense to anyone, do they all have mad-cow or what!? We do have a really good farmer's market during the summer here, but I guess the only surely safe thing to do anymore is grow it yourself.
