Re: fasting and getting sick
Hi Matthew,
Sounds to me as though you went through a nasty stretch of detox. Yes, this is very typical when one fasts. Serious detox is also called a healing crisis. When this happens what you need to do is firstly, understand it will pass. These are toxins that are leaving your body and the healing crisises can form as a virus (in your case), as acne, rashes, boils, pain, headaches, insomnia, old injuries flare up, emotional distress etc... Just know it will pass.
Secondly, when these things happen (and they will happen) drink more juices, lots more. Focus on the greens and garlic. Drink hot lemon/pepper tea. Sip hot veggie/fruit broths (made without boullion). Up your herbal tea and drink lots and lots of water. Rest, sleep, nap, relax... until it passes.
What do you eat when you come off your fasts? That's almost as important as the fast itself.

Learn as much as you can about juice therapy and juice fasting. It is a most powerful healing modality and can give you vibrant health, beauty and longevity if you know what you're doing. You can even tailor your fast by knowing the healing properties of the various fruits and veggies you drink...
Don't beat yourself up. When you're ready, begin a new fast. Each time you try, you learn something more about the fasting modality, the powerful juice and your own body's language.
Be well.
