Excema is basically a chronic dermatitis.....inflammation of the skin that can be from an unknown cause, a sensitivity, toxicity or allergy. Some people have it their entire lives, and others tend to develop it later on. One thought is that over a period of years, exposure to certain chemicals and toxins (usually found in everyday household items) build up in our systems and this long-term exposure can lead to the excema. Usually chronic (long-term) dermatitis results in scaling, crusting, etc., but I don't think it is unheard of not to be associated with those things.
