Re: just how bad is UN organic coconut oil??
Hi,
The vast majority of virgin coconut oil produced in the Philippines, IS manufactured using organic coconuts. However the companies manufacturing the oil cannot afford to have their oil certified as organic. To bring someone from the US, Australia or Europe , would cost an absolute fortune for a small to medium sized Philippine company. Unfortunately the Philippine certifying authorities are not acceptable to Japanese, European or US buyers, so there is very little point in getting certified by a Philippine authority.
What happens is that the large factory operations, that produce poor quality, heated oil, low in nutrients and antioxidants, are the only companies with the money to get their oil certified organic.
The oil that you state is "un organic", is almost certainly made in a more natural way than the majority of oils labelled as organic......and with organic coconuts. The problem, as always, is that money talks.
At Cocovida we produce our oil using organic coconuts, however it would cost us about $5000 to get certified USDA organic. There are many factory operations, that produce oil nowhere near the quality of ours, that can afford to pay for any certification they want.
We are not alone with this problem, it is a problem for thousands of small companies in poorer countries.
By the way, Cocovida was voted the Best Virgin coconut Oil Manufacturer in the Philippines......Even if we can't afford organic certification.
Regards, Mel
