Infertility Diagnotics Testing ? - HSG

I am a 35 year old vegetarian woman TTC.
I have had all of the blood/urine tests which all came back normal. My charts are textbook. My husband’s semen analysis came back normal. Yet, we have been trying to conceive for over 1 year and no luck. My OB/GYN is suggesting a hysterosalpingogram (insert contract dye into my uterus and fallopian tubes while monitoring on an x-ray). I am uneasy with this test because the dye will be absorbed by me abdominal cavity cells. My doctor said that there is no alternative test to check for blockages.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Suggestions?
