Yes, putting it on under your makeup helps it act as a sunscreen also. I actually like to put coconut oil on my face then rinse with a washrag, it acts as a facial cleanser and moistrizer. Then after you can lightly put on more coconut oil if you'd like a natural suncreen or if you have dry skin. It soaks in fairly quickly if you rub it in. I use coconut oil as a personal lubricant for when my husband and I are together and I have never had it stain the towels or sheets so I do not think it would stain your clothing. Coconut in some form used to be used in soaps because of it's foaming nature, now it still is but in an adulterated form --sodium laureth sulfate which is so adulterated that it is a carcinogenic toxin now. I don't know what they do to it after harvesting a coconut...
For hair conditioning you have the right steps, I usually only need to shampoo once and the coconut oil leaves my hair even softer than conditioner so I have no need for a chemical based conditioner! It also successfully gets rid of dandruff. It feels a little different when it is wet, but when it is dry it is so silky.
