My son hit me with a baseball bat!!!
I am a 47 year old married mother of three, a boy 10, a boy 13 and a girl 15. My 3 children were all in private school, but my daughter wished to be homeschooled after the 7th grade, so we did that. She is motivated and doing fine. I decided to take my then 11 year old son out as well because I didn't think he was getting much out of it (pretending to do his homework and coasting along whenever he could) and we needed a break from the tuition bills. My youngest is still in the school, in the 5th grade.
The day before yesterday, my 13 year old came up to me at 7:35 am as I sat at the computer. I said "Good Morning." He looked at me and said "what are you doing?" I said "I am looking up some genealogy of our family. Why don't you wash up and come back down for breakfast? I'll have it ready by the time you get back down." To me he looked funny. His mouth was set. He got up and went upstairs.
The next thing I knew, I thought a beam had fallen on my head. I put my hand up and my head was covered with blood. I looked behind me and there he stood with a baseball bat. He had clobbered me with all his strength.
I ran for the phone and called the police. He was taken out of the house (and an ambulance came to treat me.)
He was charged with a felony by the police--first degree assault with a deadly weapon. He is now being held in a detention center for 30 days until a trial date occurs. The social worker tells me that since it was a first offense, he will most likely be released back into our home on probation.
My problem is, how do I handle this when he comes home? I cannot see him acting any differently unless something changes here. I don't see anything changing here. Also, he has in the past acted strangely with my kitchen knives. Stabbing them too hard into the cutting board, looking at me and drawing his hand across his throat. I believe he actually wants to kill me.
What can I do for this boy? How can I protect myself? How can he move beyond this to a positive outlook for his life? I don't know if I can handle this. I sure do feel stupid.
I recently had a hair analysis done for him (and plan to check everyone in our family) because he is so fidgety. He never reads a book. It showed high levels of lead, arsenic, cadmium, aluminum, antimony and uranium. I have been studying how to chelate these elements, but he has been saying "no way" will he take any supplements that I give him. I can't force him to swallow pills.
