In the meanwhile I found a source near Toronto where I can pick up a starter scoby after the Holidays. I also realized I can use one of the bathrooms in the house( it does not get used)for growing kombucha; there is a heat outlet in the room, and if I keep the door closed, it stays warmer in there than in the rest of the house.
