kidney failure

i am not a person from medical field, so please consider it.

My one kidney is not functioning since last 10 years.
what precautions, i can take so that the other will remail functioning for longer duration.
In case the other kidney fails, what i can do for survival?
In such case, what are the various hospitals available in india and specially in Maharastra
