you are right - this shows that we are all equal in god's eyes, because we are all under sin. the point being that we all need jesus to save us, and give us eternal life. if homosexuals are not reaching out to jesus, they are doomed to live in sin and die eternally. the invisible forces of evil have a destructive motivation to keep anyone from coming to a saving knowlege, and therefore belief, in jesus. this is our battle, against our flesh, and against ignorance of the truth. god is good to preserve his word throughout history.
