I really feel for you and your child. And please watch the toddler whooping cough can have serious (very serious) complications in those under 2. With whooping cough by the time you get to the stage your son is at the cells containing cilia in the lungs have been damaged beyond repair. These cells are responsible for cleaning the lungs by waving the cilia and moving gunk up and out of the lungs. Your son will improve slowly as the cells are replaced by new undamaged ones. It can last 7 weeks and my mom and grandma called it the 100 day cough. I imagine there are quite a few websites that could help you understand the symptoms and what to watch out for. I wish your son a speedy and uneventful recovery and hope the toddler avoids contracting the disease. Tweet
