Blair accused over Gulf War Syndrome

Blair accused over Gulf War Syndrome

On the third anniversary of his funeral, the family of a victim of so-called Gulf War Syndrome today accused the Prime Minister of breaking his promise to the soldier.

In a landmark decision, a coroner ruled that the death of Major Ian Hill from Huddersfield was linked to the cocktail of drugs given to him by the army. Campaigners say it was a major victory in their fight to get the condition officially recognised.

However three years after his funeral, Major Hill's family say soldiers heading to the Gulf still receive the same vaccines.

Major Hill's son Chris told Calendar, "I feel that Tony Blair has let him down personally. He shook my dad's hand and told him that something would be done as soon as they knew there was something concrete and it hasn't happened. He seems too busy putting spin on everything else and staying in Government.

What about the other veterans that are still dying from the first time around?

What about those who are coming home ill now?"
