Re: Rockerfeller's Drug Empire Modern Medicine

Lapis - I agree with all of your preceding post, but I don't agree with your theory that equates K Street and high-power players with the influence of the media. I maintain that psychological manipulation of the masses is the ultimate controlling factor in modern society. For example, you can predict which future bills will be on the floor in Congress by who is running ads on prime time. You can see the public being prepared for future movie, book, sit com releases by seeing "news" features. You see ads disguised as "news" on every news channel. You can figure out which news channel is owned by whom by watching the "news" interviews of various media artists. Bush's push for "The Good News About Iraq" is without a doubt the most disgusting display of media manipulation I have ever witnessed. Yes, there are other forces that influence, but media control is the absolute power in a democracy. Media influence doesn't steal the single vote per citizen - it swings the psyche of the voter.
