Re: Enough About New York And The Twin Towers!
I feel a far greater sadness for the families and loved ones of dead Iraqis and the coaltion troops. I am sickened by the hundreds of millions handed out to the beneficiaries of the victims. I would guess 300 of my fellow citizens died on our highways today. Am I sorry - Yes. Will I get over it? Yes. Will the highway victim's
loved ones wail, knash their teeth and demand compensation (on CNN) from us taxpayers? Probably not. Had the World Trade Center been attacked previously? Yes. New Yorkers may consider their city the center of the universe, but many of us in the fly-over area consider it the arm pit of the country. As the communication industry is centered in New York we non-New Yorkers must listen to their Mayor, Police Chief, assembly men, politicians, and entertainers pontificate, ad nauseam. I have watched the cheaters from cab drivers to store owners try to screw the 9\11 compensation system. But, what's new? For New Yorkers, that's a daily fact of life. Do you think the small towns in the Midwest get infinite compensation when tornados flatten them? Don't bet on it - not enough voter density. I stated that I was casting too wide a web because I know that many of the bereaved have not made a public display out of their losses. I, also, have the greatest respect for those that are seeking to identify and punish those individuals and entities that are directly responsible for the debacle of 9\11 via the court system. I didn't dwell on O.J. Simpson, Princess Diane, Gianni Versace, or the various and sundry other addled characters that the cable news industry attempts to saturate my mind with. I've got a life - I don't have to live gratuitously through another's. By the way, I don't care if they build two-four holers over the sites...Life goes on.
