Several lymphomas can be cured with very low chance of recurrence with drugs.
Much of what you say is true because pharmaceutical companies do some pretty shady things to turn a profit. However, most of the stuff you're talking about is a duality between pharmaceutical marketing and patient consumerism. Most of the country is overmedicated but is it just the drug companies and the physicians or is it the people that see those ads and commercials and feel the need to ask about the drug. It's supply and demand. Antidepressants were initially targeted for people with severe Depression that does not improve with counseling/lifestyle changes and interferes with their daily lives. Are all people taking these drugs patients with symptoms that severe? No, and sure it's partly the physicians fault for writing the prescription and the drug company's for aggressively marketing, but if you go into a doctor's office and say "doc, I'm been feeling pretty bad for a while, can you give me something?" you're not really a naive victim are you?
