need help with bloodshot eyes, lots of streaks in eyes

I suffer from very red eyes with lots of red streaks in them, with dryness. I'm using an eyewash of eyebright, golden seal, billbury and other herbs for them for the past 1-2 weeks, that I found of the internet recently. This seems to help at times, but now they are hurting worse. I think it is probably just going to take some time for the eyewash help. I'm very nearsighted and have wore contacts since I was about 14 years old(I'm almost 34), I'm sure this has contributed to the problem. I'm wearing my glasses more than the contacts now, since my eyes are bothering me so much. I would gladly welcome any imput on natural remedies that would help me.
