Feelings for a good friend

I have been friends with a great guy for 20+ years. His sister is my best friend. Anyway, the brother and I are both single parents in our mid 30's. We spend loads of time together, both with the kids and without. He is a great friend, we talk on the phone almost everyday and go out together without our children maybe twice a month or so. The problem is, I have feelings for him, and I think that maybe he does for me too. We have both been hurt in the past and I think that is holding us back. There is a lot of sexual tension there and we can say things to each other that we wouldn't say to anyone else. Any advice on how to proceed? I would love to have more out of this relationship.
