Re: Judge orders chemo

I never knew much about Chemo until my husband of four years was diagnosed with small cell cancer of the lungs, liver and pancreas and most likely the lymph nodes. After reading this article, it really bothers me to think that some judge can use his or her powers to 'order' treatment.

I saw what chemo did to my husband, and there was never any quarantee that he could 'win' the battle with cancer. The chemo was very intense and high dose and the question was raised as to weather he wanted 'quality' rather then quantity' and he choose 'quality'. I didn't have any judge telling me he HAD to take or accept this treatment.

Children's services need to STOP thinking that they have powers over parents, and judges need to stop thinking that they are GOD! It's pretty sad to know that there are some judges out there who take a human life ( a life that was interrupted a number of years ago when a woman became brain damaged ) and fight to have this person die a slow and painful death. A death that was not necessary and a death that was perputrated upon a disabled person.

And now, we have a judge who thinks that he can order a treatment that both the parents and child clearly do not want. Perhaps if the judge fully understood what chemo does to people, and sometimes the false hope it gives, then maybe he would not be so quick to overstep or trip over his enpowering robe.

The Department of Children and Families or whatever they are called in Texas has overlooked and managed to let the children from the 40's 50's and 60's be overlooked - and are now trying to play catch up, making mistakes by the thousands and destroying families all over the country.

Sure at times they are there for the right reasons and at the right times, but there comes a time when social workers and judges need to leave families alone. This family needs to spend whatever time they have left with their daughter, not be forced to one day look back after she is gone to memories of some man in a black robe who stole any precious time that they could have had as a family.

Just my opinion!
