Flawed Vitamin-E study: Tell your local media about it

Action Alert!

Tell Your Local Media the Truth About Vitamin E — Again!

Recent news stories in print and on the air have again heralded the results of another flawed study on vitamin E. This latest article, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, claims that those taking vitamin E may have a higher risk of heart failure. NNFA proactively contacted national media with the positive message about vitamin E that became part of many print and broadcast stories. Now we need your help in writing to your local media about the problems with the JAMA article and the truth about the benefits of vitamin E.

Key points regarding the vitamin E study:

The study released today by JAMA lacks the adequate research support to justify its conclusion. Numerous studies with much larger patient populations have shown vitamin E to be a safe, effective part of a healthy lifestyle, with strong cardiovascular benefits.
The study does not take into account the poor health situation of the patient population, what doses of vitamin E are adequate and the level of compliance of the subjects.
It must be noted that over half of the study participants dropped out, and some of those remaining participants may not have even followed the rules established in the study guidelines.
