Re: Array Of Toxic Chemicals In Humans 'Alarming' I Am Polluted
an excellent article to post and a good start, even taking into consideration some of the spin within it.
measuring the hair for mercury shows exposure to mercury while the hair was growing. it does not show body burden, which cannot be assessed unless chelation is taking place. there is also, without a biopsy of the liver and other tissues, no way to find the real body burden of many of the things tested for, because the body sequesters these away, usually in fat tissue, which north americans seem to have plenty of, perhaps because they need it for that very reason. the onsluaght of toxins coming into the body overwhelm the system and keep it from being in elimination mode, forcing it to store these things for later disposal. the mans levels in light of this are frightening to say the least.
there is another slant here which i take objection to as well. the article states:
"There are going to be small levels of many things in people. That's because they're dispersed in low levels all over the environment. What you really have to do is stop and look at them one by one and go through them and say, 'Is that a level that's likely to cause disease? Is that a level that's so trivially small, we have good instruments that can measure it, but it's so small it's not of any concern?' You have to do that one chemical at a time."
this idea of looking at "one chemical at a time" was restated later in the article which tells me they must know better. everyone is familiar with elvis and his cause of death report determining it as "polypharmacopia", or many drugs. they said that he was not on a sufficient amount of any one drug to cause him any harm(cough, cough), but that it was the interaction of the chemical soup he was on in the body which caused his untimely death. i declare that the same mechanisms can easily and equally come into play regarding environmental chemicals.
thirdly, the hidden factor in all of this is time. what does chronic long term exposure to these substances cause? and as the potency of the "soup" builds, exposure at an earlier and earlier age may have more repercussions in developement. and those born today will, over the course of their lives, be exposed at current levels or greater, and over a much longer period overall.
the article was a photograph of the very tip of the iceberg, albeit a very crisp one in its gruesome detail.
