Re: Aspartame--MS and other symptoms

I was born and raised as an American. I always thought America was the most advanced when it came to Medical, Food, Schools etc.

I have lived abroad for more than 7 years. During that time period I was able to tour many food factories, wineries. I began to realize America seems more lackadaisical about products ingredients or are they just Hush Hush.

When I asked why they can’t put these items in Europe but do so for the US. Many of the companies said that is what the US wants.
Is it really or is it that we don’t know or we don’t stick together to fight. We worry more about stupid things like Janet Jackson showing some boob or whether or not the President made the right decision even after the decision was made etc .etc rather than our own health and lives.
We think Sugar free will help us lose weight but does it really and even if it does what is a little weight vs. Your LIVES. We need to exercise more and eat the Sugar if that is the case. Sugar has been around for years with no problems. They also don’t allow chemicals to be put in Fruits, and Vegetables to make them bigger, firmer etc.

I lived in Italy for many years and Italians are far from fat. They believe in eating healthy. They drink much more water than soda. You usually very seldom see a coke glass or bottle on a restaurant table but you always see bottled water and wine. The first time I was invited to a friend’s home for lunch and she served a bowl of fresh fruit for dessert. I was shocked that is normal for me now. They eat differently. There main meal of the day is usually lunch and they eat lighter for dinner. They eat more fish then red meat and they don’t eat potatoes or rice for every meal.

They insist on “fresh” pasta. We were at a past factory in Italy and the pasta line for the US is different then the lines for the remainder of the “WORLD”. They must put vitamins in the pastas and breads to be sold in America. If you ask an Italian they will tell you vitamins are no good and if you eat right you don’t need to take vitamins unless you are having a problem then your DR will let you know what type you need. They also will tell you vitamins help you put on weight.

There are chemicals put in the wines that go to America that are not put in the wine sold in Europe and the cost of wine is far less in Europe too. It is because the Europeans Italians won’t allow them.
Are these some of the reasons Americans are overweight and there health is diminishing.

What can we do to fight companies for adding additives such as Aspartame to products? What we can do to show the companies we DO NOT want them as well as what we can do to tell the world just because a product says “sugar free or fat free doesn’t mean its better for us.
