Dear Friends,
I don't often post but I just can't wait to share this wonderful
news!!My daughter,Sophia,was diagnosed with a pinealblastoma(very
rare brain tumor) in 1996 at the age of 10&1/2 months old.She was too
young for radiation (Thank God !)and there was no proof that the high
dose chemo reccommended would cure her....almost all of the children
on the protocols offered to us died.We chose Hospice instead. She was
given 2-6 months to live.
Shortly after returning home, some friends found a promising
treatment while searching the internet. Many in this group are
familiar with the doctor we chose,Dr.Burzynski of
Houston ,Texas.Sophia has been on the antineoplaston treatment since
February of 1997.She has been monitered by MRIs every 3 months since
then. She had slow decrease at first, then the tumor appeared to remain
stable for quite some time,no growth or decrease. We began to suspect
that the area enhancing on the MRIs was scar tissue. We finally got
approval for a PET scan that was done last week. The findings were
astonishing: no evidence of metabolic activity!! This means no
cancer,complete response to the treatment,REMISSION!!
Our family is overjoyed, overwhelmed, and in a blissful state of
shock!!Funny thing, her local follow up oncologist has yet to comment
or offer any opinoin on the new development....the secratary who
broke the news to me was quite happy, but then again, she's new. ;)
On a side note,I am on 2 other e groups that are for parents of
children with brain tumors. One is a nice group, the other wants
nothing to do with me,they actually accuse me of making up the whole
story and being a paid employee of Dr.Burzynski.The moderator has
kicked me out of the goup several times and my posts are censored,I'm
not allowed to mention Dr.B. in any posts.I know that I'll never open
their eyes or minds, but I need encouragement to share this news with
these groups. One reason for my hesitation is that the discussions are
too often full of frustration, fear, guilt & death of the children.I
almost feel cruel to post such happy news, but I also feel they have
the right & need to know about non-toxic,life-saving treatments
available.
This is crazy, because if she was cured by conventional
meothods, these people would embrace the news,I guess I need
encouragement to spread this word where it really needs to be,after
all....none of you are too surprized, right?
