Which batteries for zapper?

Can anyone tell me if ordinary alkaline batteries are ok for use with the super-zapper? My zapper came with mercury and cadmium free zinc batteries but after only 5 zapping sessions thay have run dry. I couldnt find these type of batteries at my electrical retailer so have purchased the regular kind. Can the ordinary batteries somehow feed mercury/cadmium into my system through the zapping current???!! Tweet
