Re: FIRST TIME HERE, JUST DIAGNOSED IN HOSP LAST WEEK HELP!
Thank you both again. I just got over feeling very nauseated. Was lying down afraid to move. That ache is coming & going now, so I guess the Mg did do something, but it makes me feel so sick. Also 3 liquid bms. Yes I am taking magnesium citrate. When I went to the the store on Friday, the pharmacist said that 5
oz (1/2 the bottle, 8.75GMs) was equivlent to the ES formula I showed him. He said the Mg citrate has a lot of citrus inactive ingredients to counter the bad taste and people tolerate it better. (He has heard of the flushes which surprized me) I had no trouble drinking it, acually kind of liked the taste (like a very strong sprite). He advised that I follow it with the same amt of water or dilute it 1:1. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just drank it on ice followed with a sip of water. Was OK for the next dose also, had no trouble. Just had sudden nausea right before time to take OO/GJ & I know vomited much more than 10
oz. Forceful, clear 3 times straight. I don't know how I could have vomited so much, since I had nothing to eat or drink since noon. Maybe it was too strong. Maybe my digestion is too slow. Maybe I should have tried the ES & water, but even the smell got to me. I was also extremely anxious about the OO/GJ, worried about getting it down & worried it might make the pain worse. I didn't mind the taste, just the oily nature. I did have frequent diarrhea 1-4 hrs after the OO/GJ, but no more nausea or vomiting. I was very sceptical ?sp about this whole thing, but I figured it was worth trying. I couldn't believe it when I woke up and had no pain after 2 weeks of constant pain! I think I am going to drink some 1/2 apple juice & water. Then try something to eat. I also bought some potassium caps on Friday. Should I take some? The pharmacist said they are very weak, (1 cap is only 3% of min. daily req.), apparantly can only get decent dose with a script. He said I would have to take about 25 caps for any real effect. I don't know if it was worth buying it, but on Friday when I had the strength to go out I was desparate & bought 2 of everthing I might need. My 19 yr old son is very supportive (about the
OO (Olive-Oil) he said mom you can do it, I'm sure I eat that much when I have pizza, he can eat whole pizza though) My boyfriend of 10 yrs. is not, he keeps saying I wish you stayed in the hospital. People at work told him GB surgury is no big deal, "very minor surgury". He doesn't want to talk about the flushes, he thinks the whole thing sounds crazy. He thinks if it worked why would REAL Drs not precribe it. The flush took my pain away, so I'm going to stick with this for now. Wanted to ask about alcohol, the so called Dr at the hospital "plan of treatment" included giving me ativan (which I refused) for alcohol withdrawl. Even though I told him I drink aprox 2-3 drinks per week, he said in his opinion all people with gall stones, esp with pancreatitis are alcoholics and almost all alcoholics are in denial! I did have 3 kalua sp? & half/half drinks on Easter. Another thing I wanted to ask was if dieting could have anything to do with this. I was on a strict low fat low carb diet (like Atkins but without the fat) & was swimming a mile a day 3Xs a week for the 6 weeks proceeding Easter & had lost 12 Lbs of the 20 I wanted to loose. I also noticed some things that are probably co-incidence, but wanted to know if you ever heard of anyone experiencing any of these things? Since I woke up after the flush I have breast tenderness like early pregnancy, but worse, my chronic neck to R upper back pain, from my heriated c4-5 6-7 discs is temp. gone, a slight headahy feeling is gone, and I have rough skin on my palms & soles (when I wash my hands it feels like skin is peeling off). Now whose the one that sounds crazy? But these things are noticable SUDDEN changes in my body that I know are real. Sorry to be so long and go on so much. But any info & advise is GREATLY appreciated! I've been drinking the 1/2 apple juice fine and am trying to figure out what to try to eat. Believe it or not I have a craving for nuts or a grilled cheese sandwich. My boyfriend thinks I should get a pregnancy test (even though I'm 44 & we couldn't get pregnant even with IVF). LOL Will check back back as I have felt anxious with little sleep for past 2 weeks. Thank God for your website!
