well, as long as americans keep their heads in the sand...
just the other day i was attempting to convey the idea of socialized medicine to my instructor, a 30-year nurse veteran. her response was simple, when i said that everyone is entitled to healthcare - sure, you can get healthcare even if you don't have health insurance. no-interest government loans are available. hmmm... so joe schmoe who just found out that, after years of promiscuous sex, he now has hepatitis and is in dire need of a liver transplant is gonna' waltz down to his local credit union and ask for a LOAN! how twisted is that? to confirm my belief in just how narrow-minded this woman was, when one of the young students asked what happens to the "sharps-boxes" (needle containers) in hospitals when they're taken away, her response was "i don't know, and i don't WANT to know". cozy, huh? and this is a woman who is a few years from retiring, and now supports the very government who wants to reduce her benefits as a senior citizen. is there some kind of brain-washing going on? i thought perhaps something was being added to the fast-food, which i rarely, if ever, eat.... hmmm
