John E. Water machine alternative

I have one question, the heater unit for this machine is only $85.00, this is the heart of the machine, so my question is this (and yes i own one already) the cooling pot is relativly simple in design, why not buy the 85 dollar heater, and make the cooling pot with supplies from home depot prolly like 20 bucks worth of material and the save the difference from the 1700.00?

has anyone tried this yet?
