1956 - D.W. Eisenhower said "you can't invade to change leaders"

In 1956, the Suez Canal crisis, Egypt was the focus of all the trouble.

I don't know the details of the conflict, but FRANCE, BRITIAN, and [?ONE OTHER] decided to invade Egypt and remove Pres. Nasar from power, and get someone more favourable in the Presidential position.

Ironically, U.S. President D.W. Eisenhower protested, saying "No nation can invade another and remove its leader, this is not done!!"
He was angry. The very idea repulsed him, an afront to democracy and freedom.

GW Bush often quotes the old boys. Not this one I guess.
[maybe DW Eisenhower was a democrat? I can't remember...]
