RE:Post Encephalitis Uncontrollable Seizures

In 1998 my son, then age 18 and a college freshman came down with mono, which he had 2 yrs prior, but, this time they said it went to his brain. He had his first seizure then and went status. He was placed in a drug induced coma for 2 weeks. When he awoke, his memory was severely impaired. Many drugs and surgeries later, i.e. VNS put in and taken out and now he has the Deep Brain Stimulator. He is having between 3-4 seizures per week. Thankfully, memory has drastically improved, just his high school years haven't come back, yet. He currently is on keppra, lamictal, zonnegran and they started him on Lyrica, but, he is not responding well to that drug, so they are weaning him off Lyrica.
