excema & cold sores

Recently read that when people with excema contract some form of Hepatitus (ie coldsores), that they should be checked out by a doctor asap, & get anti-viral medication. Apparently, because the excema decreases the immune system, the virus can damage the brain & spinal cord. I've had both conditions for years & found this info quite worrying!
