Re: yeast infection and period

If you have no pain and it is just a nasty kind of puke type smell it is probably yeast, if you have pain and it is a fishy or really nasty smell it could be bacterial. I am going more on what happened to me after the birth of my third child when I called the ob ward and told them the smell of my lochia was not right, they asked if I had pain and when I said no they seemed to just think nothing of it. I diagnosed myself after crying out to God for an answer and "yeast infection" just popped into my mind. I then remembered someone on one of the expecting boards I belonged to mentioning she was fighting a yeast infection that would not go away after the birth of her baby and when I wrote to her and asked about the smell she said it smelled like puke. LOL

I sometimes think that I smell that familiar "pukie" smell during my period, I usually just take more acidophilus and if I have been having any itchy feelings it seems to take care of it.

One thing you want to make sure of is not to use tampons if you are prone to yeast infections especially on lighter flowing days, the irritation of the dry tampon and sides of your vagina can create a yeast infection, I learned this one the hard way. Also my Dr told me that was what caused the infection and though I tend to question most things that Dr's tell us, this did make sense, because there was a direct correlation between the tampon and my breaking out wtih a yeast infection.

Hope I have given you some information that will be of help to you. I have struggled with yeast infection after yeast infection for months until I found the right formula of supplementation to get it under control. I wouldn't doubt that I still have yeast overgrowth down south but at least I don't have all the itching and symptoms that go with it. I know I won't be free of yeast overgrowth until I quit all the Sugar and starches that I can't seem to give up.
