pregnant after miscarriage?

hi... this is my first post here, and from what i've read so far, i believe that someone will be able to answer my question. i miscarried (3rd miscarriage in less than a year, but that's a whole other post) 5 weeks ago, and had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago- i have not gotten my period (or bled) since the miscarriage- so, i guess what i'm asking is, does a miscarriage take the place of my period for that month, and i should get another period 4 weeks (roughly) after that? if that's the case then, is it physically possible to get pregnant a week after a miscarriage? i'm just nieve in this area, so if anyone could shed some light on this, i'd appreciate it.
