lowering amount of olive oil with age?

Do you think it is wise to lower the amt. of O O as we get older and if I do should I repeat the procedure two days in a row? I have trouble getting down 1/2 cup oil. I am 60 years old and not in the best of health and am about to do my 10th flush. Thanks.
