How do you know if they are liver or gallstones?

Are the first ones you flush gallstones? Or is there always a mixture of both in every flush? Do the liver stones then roll down into the gallbladder after the flush and become the next batch of gallstones? Or is there a separate exit route that liver stones take into the intestines that bypasses the gallbladder?

Just curious to understand how it all works!
