Unfortunately you can get an opinion which can be stretched and fabricated, this goes with anything secular as well because people are prone to error.

But the true way will have facts behind it, and a lot of plain evidence, and support.

We have to be careful, God is just and calls to the middle path, not extreme left, and not extreme right, but the middle way, the easy and natural way- This is always stated in scripture and its a good thing to go by. If something sounds unmerciful- then its better to do a thorough search because it probably is a misunderstanding because the Creator is the Most Merciful to His creatures. He gives us freewill, that is our basic God given right: to choose. He does leave us free to choose.
Likewise I can't think of a religion more attacked today than Al Islam. We are trained to hate it. There is a bias in mainstream media, just as there is a bias on health related issues.
