new to this

Hello!
I don't know anything abour teeth, but I do have Amalgams and will get them removed in about a week or to. I also have 1 root canal, that's apparently inflammated somewhere there. Could someone explain to me what I need to do with root canal? Bacause I just want to do everything right this time. Also, is there anything very important I need to know about removing amalgams? Thank you!
