Re: Question about liver damage associated with liver cleanse
That's a very complicated issue, because altho a
Liver Flush can stress the kidneys if an enema or
colonic is not done immediately afterwards, it is more stressful to the kidneys to have elevated cholesterol and all the problems of a congested liver, over time.
When the liver is stressed so that there are a lot of lipoproteins (fat/protein combos) in the bloodstream, these will eventually damage the kidneys the same way a pimple will enlarge a pore. That "enlarged pore" in the kidney's filtration system then allows protein (albumin) to escape into urine.
The best indicator of the health of her kidneys is the Creatinine lab result on bloodwork, coupled with the urine test. If Creatinine is high, then that means ultrasound and even a biopsy to see why. If it's not high, then that's a good sign that this is a temporary condition, possibly due to hormonal changes affecting the urinary system as a whole. Hypothyroid, for instance, will cause proteinurea.
If her urine didn't get dark after the liver flush, if she didn't get any kind of swelling on her legs/ankles or under her eyes after the liver flush, then chances are good that it did no damage to her kidneys.
In the meantime, it would be a great idea for her to take a bit of Lecithin every day. This will help remove unnecessary lipoproteins and fats from her bloodstream and really help both liver and kidneys.
She should also be careful to only eat the amount of pure protein necessary for her and her baby and no extra. 2-3 eggs but nothing else in a single day, for instance, or 4
oz chicken or fish but nothing else. Veggies and grains have a lot of protein, more than people think. :)
Hope that helpes! :)
