Re: I used to be a Celiac! ? for Jill
Jill,
Were you officially diagnosed with celiac disease by endoscopy?
The reason I ask is that my daughter who is 7 had a negative blood test but on endoscopy that did find damage to her small intestine. But because of the neg. blood test they said they could not give a definitive diagnosis of celiac. She also is lactose intolerant which of course goes hand in hand with celiac.
I think even according to Andreas (pretty sure I read in his book
Liver Flushes should not be used in kids under 10) she is too young for liver flushing. She is on a relatively
healthy Diet though not vegetarian. She has been muscle tested on a number of foods and was told that she needed to avoid corn in addition to the gluten and dairy. She had been vomiting up bile on a number of occasions. No vomiting since end of May.
In any case that is her history and my feeling is that people with just a gluten intolerance can probably heal up the intestines enough to eat gluten again but I wonder if true celiacs can? We will continue with the diet for now. She will be muscle tested again in the near future to see if she remains sensitive to the gluten etc. I feel that I will probably give the diet a good 6 months before reintroducing the offenders. I think she needs to heal well before I chance it.
Thanks for any info. you may be able to share.
