Squatting and hemorrhoids

I've suffered with hemorrhoids and worse for decades. Often a bad bout would lead to infection and fever which then had to be treated with anti biotics. Recently, it got even worse and I began to consider a proctologist. I decided I'd try one last time to self treat and I remembered reading how squatting might at least help calm the discomfort of itching and burning etc. And so that's when I began to try squatting on the toilet. Within two days, there was a noticable change. The swelling that would normally appear after defecation didn't happen. The burning and discomfort I would normally face after a bathroom visit was now gone. Its now been more then a week and I can't say that everything is gone but I can say, 85% has changed. I no longer have discomfort even at night when it was always present. I've been reading now about squatting and have found that in those places where squatting is the practice, anal rectal problems are almost non existant. Frankly, I'm more then amazied at how quick the changes came and to what degree. Could the way most of us use a toilet contribute that much to bad health ? All I can say to anyone suffering - try squatting.
