Re: # of days betweeen fasting
Hi Mary!
That completely depends on your body type, level of health and endurance, and strength of liver and spleen. :)
Some people just can't do more than 7 days of citric juices because their spleens are weak and really should do veggie juice fasts.
It takes about 3 days for the stomach to "go to sleep," and about 2-3 days for the stomach to "wake up." It's very hard on the system to be digesting food when the stomach isn't quite awake, so in order to have a productive break in between fasts you'll have to be very careful to wake the stomach up properly, and to eat nothing that will clog your system because it is hard to digest.
So to be safe, your "break" should be mostly veggie juices, steamed, or broths, and some simple whole grains like Quinoa or brown rice, and olive oil or safflower oil as the only fat, or sweet potato. It helps to take in ginger, cinamon, cloves, garlic, which are heating and help the stomach with gastric juices, with each meal, either as a spice or in a tea.
Hope that helps! :)
