Re: Questions to Pierre re:Budwig diet

Hi Karina,

You wrote Pierre, but you meant "Peirce".

I am not as " knowledgeable" than Pierce about Budwig diet. But perhaps I can give you some useful information.

In her wonderful book "Challenge Cancer and Win!, Kim Dalzell (Ph.D., R.D., L.D.), wrote eleven pages about a nutrition action plan for the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. She divides her plan in eleven steps. Step Five is "Cut the Fat". Here is what she says:

=========
«Limit fat to 25 percent of your total calories. Eating too much fat or the wrong fat has been associeted with inflammatory conditions, suppressed immunity, and cancer cell growth. Intake of animal fats and unhealthy trans-fatty acids (found in hydrogenated foods) were found to be associated with an increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Animals with lymphoma who were treated with fish oil, arginine, and Adriamycin had fewer recurrences and lived longer than controls. Chapter 5 provides guidelines for avoiding unhealthy fats and balancing your diet with healthy fats. At least 15 percent of your daily calories (60 percent of your total fat allowance) should come from fats that contain monounsaturated and omega-3 fatty acids.» (p.356)
=========

If I was you, I wouldn't hesitate to start an oil-protein diet (despite the risk Peirce speaks about : ))). Budwig's cookbook is excellent, but you can also find a Four-Week anticancer menu in William L. Fischer's book "How to Fight Cancer and Win" (p.173-185). Fischer got that menu directly from Dr. Johanna Budwing.

But you don't need to wait for cookbooks "to cut the Fat" and to take three time a day 1 Tablespoon flaxseed oil, 3 Tablespoons Quark, 1 tablespoons flaxseed meal, some milk (or buttermilk), some apple puree, some honey. Garnish the top of that cream with walnuts (rich in omega-6 and omega-3).
