I've forgottten, sorry, anyway, it was an anthropological study that revered 'spirit' and animism if i remember correctly.
(and sort of idolized the 'exotic')
I agree with the previous poster -- this work is now outdated.
Some (maybe not many!) would even call it reductionist.
But it has a place in the slow, gradual path of evolution.
(knowing/realization) I remember enjoying reading him
to relax, when I was a teenager. :-0
