I think our culture (American for me) has demonized these drugs because we ourselves have abused them. Back then, psychedelics like mushrooms, peyote, and datura were all used for tribal/cultural purposes... and sometimes those were a one-time deal. Now, we have idiots stabbing themselves in their arm, injecting junk, and getting high off that - numerous times a day I might add. People then get addicted and problems arise. If users would use in moderation, and more carefully, drugs wouldn't have such a bad reputation as they do now.
I myself have never tried any synthetic drug, and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable going through an intense experience any time soon. Maybe in the future, when I'm more comfortable with my life. I mean, we're here to live life. Using drugs correctly and respectfully can expand our minds to a whole different consciousness - one we never knew existed. We get a glimpse of a higher level of thought, and we take back what we learn.
