The humb in the neck relates to the liver and gallbladder. Fluid and tissue is held there to prevent acidic toxins from damaging the vertebrae of the spine. This is reversable, but requires that the liver and gallbladder are cleared of all stones, especially calcified ones (see The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush, http://www.ener-chi.com).
These products may not be dangerous, but they may not be useful either. Many aren't. Just because the creams contain vitamin A (retinol) doesn't mean the body can actually use it. If the cream has been producted a few month ago, most of the vitamin A is practically gone. If you make the cream fresh, that would be your best shot. In any case, the benefits from vitamin A only come from its converted state, retinoic acid. Skin cells produce enzymes that convert retinol into retinoic acid. How much they convert differs from person to person, and on how healthy the skin is. If the blood is not clean (liver weakness) the skin receives a lot of toxins and becomes dysfunctional. The more clogged up the skin is the less it benefits from these creams.
