Hi. I'm a psychologist who has made something of a hobby of studying Orthomolecular Psychiatry for many years now. Orthomolecular Psychiatry uses vitamins to restore the mind and body to normal functioning.

Often increased awareness of spiritual entities and of other weird phenomena occurs in people who have begun to become somewhat deficient in Niacin. This is not the only cause for these anomolies, but I believe it is more common that you'd think.

Taking high doses of Niacin and Vitamin C helped one of my client's perceptions normalize. Later the client attended a Baptism and replied with fervour to the questions in the service which evoked a congregational reaffirmation of faith. To this client's relief and astonishment, the entity the client had invited in some time earlier finally left, and the client felt the loving (albeit also a bit stern about the foolishness of this sort of psychic experimentation) presents of God very strongly indeed.

Niacin is most likely to be of help if you also have skin and bowel problems. Even if you don't, it is sometimes worth trying. Plain Niacin will cause an uncomfortable temporary flush unless (and sometimes when) accompanied with Vitamin C. There is usually no flush when the Niacin is taken in the form of Niacinamide, but this is more expensive.

The article talks about psychosis and schizophrenia, but actually if the Niacin helps, the patient is likely to have not a true psychosis but subclinical (or even clinical) Pellegra. This means that they are not truly "crazy", but merely vitamin deficient. Also, If Niacin is going to help, it will do so very quickly.
